Peter J. Leeds earned his AAS degree from the State University of New York, Engineering Department
with a major in Construction Technology, in 1974. He has held his General Builders Contractors License
in the State of California, since 1980. Peter has held Home Improvement Salesman Registrations and Home
Improvement Contractor Certifications in both New York and Connecticut, for several years. He has been a
President of the International Remodeling Contractors
Association, and a member of the IRCA Board of Directors.
Peter has been successfully performing Home Inspections in Arizona for over 9 years. He is the first Phoenix area inspector to hold a seat on the Rules and Standards Committee of the Board of Technical Registration. He is the first home inspector to be granted state certification in Maricopa County, and the second in the State. He is the first home inspector to chair an Enforcement Advisory Committee. He is currently the chairperson of the Rules and Standards Committee. Peter has participated in the development of the "Three-Legged Stool" (Exam, Education, Experience) approach to State Certification in Arizona, and actively administers education and training. He has represented the State of Arizona as a participant in the writing and compiling of the 2002 and 2003 versions of the National Home Inspectors Exam, created by the Examination Board of Professional Home Inspectors, and adopted by the Board of Technical Registration as the official exam that must be passed by all Home Inspector applicants prior to certification in the State of Arizona. He has recently performed as the lead adjunct faculty for the Home Inspector Program in the Business Department of Phoenix College, teaching the educational requirement (HIP-101) and providing the parallel training requirement (HIP-201) for AZ State certification. Peter consults as an expert witness in judicial disputes, to help determine compliance with the Standards of Professional Practice, in the State of Arizona.
